Security Deposit Deduction Estimator

Built by Michael Rivera

Landlords don't invent deduction prices — but they do bill at contractor rates for things you could fix for pocket change. Tick what applies to your place and see the typical deduction range, plus which items are worth fixing yourself before the final inspection.

Ranges are typical charges seen in move-out statements in the US/EU; your lease, local law, and normal wear-and-tear rules always take precedence. This is an orientation tool, not legal or financial advice.

How to use this before the inspection

Walk the apartment with this list two or three weekends before handover. Anything in the list with a "DIY" note costs a fraction of the deduction if you handle it yourself — and our move-out checklist covers the order to do it in. Photograph everything after fixing; your photo file is your best friend in a deposit dispute.
